Frequently Asked Questions
If you cannot find the answer to your question in our FAQs, you can always leave us a message, We will answer to you shortly.
What is HPMC?
HPMC stands for Hydroxypropyl Methylcellulose. It is a cellulose-based polymer used as a thickener, binder, and water retention agent in construction materials, or as a thickener in home care and personal care products.
What are the main applications of your cellulose ethers?
Our cellulose ethers, including HPMC, MHEC, and HEC, are highly versatile additives.
Their primary applications include:
1. Construction & Building Materials: Tile Adhesive & Grout, Cement Render, Gypsum-Based Plaster, Self-Leveling Compounds, Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS), etc.
2. Paints & Coatings: Latex Paint, Water-based Paint, etc.
3. Personal Care & Household Products: Detergents & Cleaners, Cosmetics, etc
The specific grade and type of cellulose ether must be selected based on the application. Our technical team is ready to assist you in choosing the perfect product for your formulation needs.
Are your cellulose only for construction applications?
Not at all. While construction and building materials are a primary market for our products, the versatility of our cellulose ethers allows them to serve a wide range of industries.
Specifically, our products have two main application areas:
Construction & Paints: This includes their use in tile adhesives, gypsum plaster, self-leveling compounds, and cement-based renders, as well as in water-based pains as thickeners and stabilizers.
Personal Care & Household Products: Many of our grades, particularly HPMC and HEC, are excellent for use in products like:
- Cosmetics: As thickeners in shampoos, lotions, and creams.
- Detergents: Providing viscosity control in liquid soaps and cleaners.
Important Notice: They are not certified or intended for use in food, pharmaceutical, or medical applications.
What is the difference between HPMC and HEC?
HPMC offers better water retention and is more compatible with cementitious systems, while HEC (Hydroxyethyl Cellulose) is often used in water-based paints and cosmetics for its thickening properties.
How do I choose the right grade of HPMC for my application?
The choice depends on factors like viscosity, methoxy/hydroxypropoxy content, and the specific construction material. Please consult our technical team for guidance.
What is the shelf life of your products?
Most of our products have a shelf life of 24 months when stored properly in a dry, cool environment.
Are your products environmentally friendly?
Yes, our cellulose ethers and additives are derived from natural polymers and are biodegradable under certain conditions.
Do you offer custom formulations?
Yes, we provide customized solutions tailored to your specific project requirements. Contact our sales team to discuss your needs.
What is RDP (redispersible polymer powder) used for?
RDP is used to enhance flexibility, adhesion, and durability in mortar and cement-based applications.
Can your products be used in pharmaceuticals or food products?
No, we only manufacture construction-grade, daily chemical-grade and paint grade cellulose ether (HPMC, MHEC, HEC and CMC), not food-grade.
What is the viscosity range of your HPMC?
We offer HPMC with viscosity ranges from low (e.g., 400 mPa·s) to high (e.g., 200,000 mPa·s) to suit your various applications.
How does MHEC differ from HPMC in terms of performance?
MHEC (Methyl Hydroxyethyl Cellulose) typically provides improved solubility and better performance in certain gypsum and mortar formulations compared to HPMC.
What is the methoxy and hydroxypropoxy content in your HPMC?
The content varies by grade; typically, methoxy is between 19%-24%, and hydroxypropoxy is between 4%-12%. For more detailed information, please contact our sales department to request a technical data sheet.
Can I request a sample before placing an order?
Yes, we offer free samples for evaluation purposes. Please submit a sample request through our website.
What packaging options do you offer?
We offer a variety of packaging solutions to meet different shipment and handling needs:
Standard Bags: 25 kg multi-layer craft paper bags with a polyethylene inner liner, ensuring moisture-proof protection.
Bulk Bags: 500 kg flexible intermediate bulk containers for cost-effective bulk shipping.
Pallets: Standard bags are securely stacked on wooden pallets and stretch-wrapped for stable and easy handling during transport.
Custom Packaging: We can accommodate special requests, including specific pallet types, or branded packaging for large orders.
Please contact us to discuss your requirements.
What is the minimum order quantity for our products?
The minimum order quantity (MOQ) is typically 1 ton. This helps us maintain efficient production and competitive pricing.
Can I request custom packaging with my company logo?
Yes, we provide private labeling and custom packaging services for qualified orders. This includes printing your company logo, product information, and handling instructions directly on the bags.
You need to provide us with your design files or requirements, and our team will handle the rest.
A minimum order quantity usually applies for custom packaging to ensure feasibility(this minimum order quantity differs from standard packaging). For more detailed requirements and a quotation, please contact our sales department.
How is the product protected during shipping?
Our packaging is designed to be moisture-proof and durable, with palletization and stretch wrapping for added security.
What is the weight per package?
Standard bags are 25 kg each. Big bags are 500 kg or 1000 kg.
How should I store the packages upon receipt?
Store in a dry, cool, and well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and moisture. Note: Please do not put items on top of each other.
